Frustrated!
I am trying to change my blog background for the holidays using a background from http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com, and I am following the instructions to a tee, but still can't make it work. The background I have now is from the same site, and I obvioulsy got those instructions correct, so what am I doing wrong this time? Anyone willing to help?

I don't know....I wish I could help...I always paste right over the top of the one I am replacing....in edit html...which I am sure is what you are doing...
Try deleting your old background completely first and then add a new html gadget. That works for me!
